Supercritical Fluid Extraction is a technology applied to solutes extraction or separation from either a solid or liquid matrix containing a supercritical fluid liquid (with temperature and pressure over their critical ones) used as extracting solvent. All compounds are able to achieve a supercritical state and can be used as extracting solvent. The most frequently used are water due to its harmlessness, propane, as it allows using moderate extraction temperature and pressure and supercritical carbon dioxide, as it has the advantage of combining both characteristics.
